Auto Accumulators
Put the comfort back in your ride
Are your accumulators showing signs of low nitrogen pressure?
Does your ABS light come on?
Does your suspension warning light come on?
Accumulators can degrade over time causing poor brake performance, incorrect suspension operation, slow valve timing, etc. The units have often simply lost a proportion of the nitrogen charge but are otherwise fully functional. In 90% of cases the units can simply be repaired by re-gassing the unit rather than replacing them entirely.
Manufacturers would have you believe that all diaphragms inside the accumulators will fail after 10 years but this is simply not the case. In most cases it’s a depletion of the nitrogen pocket inside the units that causes an over stressing of the diaphragm which leads to complete failure. By re-gassing back to OEM specification we can extend the lifespan of the units. There are many Austin Allegro / Maxi Hydragas cars that have 2 separate diaphragms in that are still on the road after 40+ years.
Some of these hydraulic accumulator units are already out of manufacture and most will inevitably be discontinued in the future once production volumes have fallen below economical levels. Drawing on over 30 years of industrial experience designing & manufacturing “Sealed for Life” gas envelopes we have created this service to provide a sustainable, economical, environmentally friendly and long term solution to the problem.
After all, you wouldn’t throw your tyres away if they lost pressure, so why throw your accumulators away?
SERVICE YOUR ACCUMULATORS
If you already have some accumulators you need servicing then you can post them to us. We will then fully service them and send them back, including:
Testing them for diaphragm integrity
Recharging them back to OEM specification
Cycle testing them (1000 cycles+ at operating pressure)
Leak testing them
SERVICE EXCHANGE
We can operate on a service exchange basis for most units. All units will be cleaned and painted. Ideal if you want to replace your units on a “one in, one out” basis.
ACCUMULATOR TESTING
If you’re unsure about the current state of your accumulators and want to get them checked, then for a small fee we can simply bench test your accumulators to accurately measure the residual gas pressure and diaphragm integrity.
We particularly recommend this for high grade units with long life expectancy (e.g. BMW SMG)
